Are these new devices, time consuming or time saving? You be
the judge.
The monumental marketing machines such as Google, Apple and
Samsung are attempting to push the appeal more than the less technological and
early adopters and get this generation wondering whether or not a smartwatch is
right for them.
For the past 10 years or so, smart watches have existed in
various lifestytles. Last year alone the Pebble launched the second generation
of the successful smartwatch; the fourth, fifth, and sixth edition of the
Samsung smartwatches have been released; Google has also entered the game with
the Android Wear.
As far as the other releases, such
as, the smartphone and the music player that was released prior to the
smartwatch, the clemency of the Apple’s first smartwatch has put this machinery
into the limelight.
Prior to the Apple Watch, despite
the availability online and in store, an estimated 2% of the British
individuals were aware of smartwatches, and very few individuals were convinced
that it was a seen as a necessity.
The direct marketing of the Apple
smartwatch focuses on two main things: fashion and health. With the various
amount of watch faces, straps, and case combinations, the apple smartwatch is
sought out to be the most personal technology yet.
However, the main purpose of the
smartwatch is to keep all your notifications at an easy access of laying on
your wrist, transferring them from a ringing phone to an at a glance place that
is easily available throughout the day.
These smart watches serve the
purpose of working for the more notification-obsessed. For instance, if at the
moment you don’t feel the need to be checking your phone at the sound of every
buzz, then a smartphone is most likely not the right choice for you.
Even the head of design for Google
states that the smartwatch is just like an electric can opener, generally
larger, and more complicated with complications that are not necessary.
On the other hand, if your life
revolves around keeping up with notifications of important emails or texts which
causes you to be looking at your phone every two minutes, then a smartwatch
will likely add a lot of value to your life and save you a vast amount of time.
Many individuals may argue, more
than ever, that there is a huge problem in the amount of people glued to their
phone. Some may say, “Do you really need to know about everything that is
happening at that exact moment that the phone is buzzing?” Some may also argue
that this may become a very unhealthy habit, and can be seen as a form of an
addiction.
In the end, like everything in
life, it is important to find a balance and remember time is money. Basically,
is it worth it to invest in a device that can possibly save you time? In other
words, is this Apple Watch or Android Wear seen as a necessity or more as a
want? Truth be told, many individuals
are glued to their phone. At the end of the day, we are guaranteed one thing; timing
is everything, isn’t it?
